The West Augustine community is weaved together by a strand of volunteerism, and without it many of the amenities that we take for granted would not be available. The Solomon Calhoun Center, The Wildflower Clinic, Kids Safe Zone, the Boys & Girls Club, The Community Partnership Schools at the Webster School, our athletic organizations, and even our schools have volunteers at every corner of their success.
Students, seniors, families, teachers and organizations cleaning up the trash on our streets, churches helping out wherever they can, parents attending PTO meetings, and members of the community standing up, raising their voices and making change.
Our country was built on people giving back to their communities, giving back to those who needed it, and volunteerism has helped create some of the greatest leaders in our country's history.
Whether you are an individual, who simply cares about helping others, or whether you are a student needing volunteer hours, the organizations and schools in our community need your help.
For college and high school students, volunteering builds character, but it also provides great work experience, connections, leadership opportunities, and it helps fill in the gaps on your college and scholarship applications.
We invite any organization, school or club in the West Augustine community and those offering free services to our residents to submit a description of your organization, your volunteer needs and your logo for a permanent, free placement on our Volunteer Opportunities in Saint Augustine page here at the West Augustine News Connection. (You can find the tab in the sidebar)
For those of you looking for community hours, volunteer opportunities and leadership experience, keep a close eye on the Volunteer Opportunity page and look out for postings about volunteers needed under the Volunteer Opportunities label, as we will be posting specific volunteer opportunities, as they arise in our community.
